What is a Toymail Talkie?
You may have seen these on an episode of Shark Tank.
Essentially, the concept is that this stuffed animal allows kids to communicate with their parents via voice messaging.
There are two buttons on the back that allow the child to choose a parent or another Talkie to message and they can record a message to send to their parents smartphone.
While it does take initial set-up, the toy itself appears fairly easy to use. It retails for around $49.99 and there are different “Talkie” characters to choose from.
Who is this product good for?
The best audience would actually be the 2-6 crowd. By school age kids would have a lot less time to use this product. I could see this being a great way to comfort kids who may miss mom while at the sitter or daycare, but since this needs WiFi to work you would have to set it up on any networks outside of your home.
Also, since kids become savvy to messaging at such a young age I would recommend this for the under 7 crowd. The 8-10 might use it but by then they will more likely want an iPod or tablet that will allow them to communicate with parents so they would be less enthused about this item and for the price you probably want as long of a life out of this product as possible.
This toy can also help keep kids in communication with people they may not see everyday like mom or dad, such as a grandparent or a parent who may travel often for work or may be in the military.
