Some of the reasons we are starting to use cloth diapers…
(Found on Real Diaper Association Website)
- Conventional diapers are the third largest contributor to landfills.
- 20 billion are thrown away each year. (That’s 50 million disposable diapers every day.)
- Each disposable diaper has a petroleum-based plastic layer (don’t let the softness fool you!).
- The plastic layer prevents these diapers from breaking down.
- It’s estimated that it takes 500 years for one disposable diaper to biodegrade. Additionally, most of these diapers contain untreated human waste that can leach into the water table.
