Okay, this is going to be a big step considering the dependency we have on our Ziploc and Gladware…but my next goal in my efforts to continue to turn our household into a greener one is to get rid of my disposable plastic containers.
My main reason…I have the horrible habit of heating them in the microwave, I swear that I can just see the chemicals breaking down into my food as is does its waltz around the turntable…Yes, this is sort of an exageration, but not completely…
Plastics are essentially chemical cocktails which, will begin to break down at some point. Heat is a proponent of this process…therefore so wouldn’t it make sense that these chemicals would break down in the microwave? And what is there to absorb it? Yep…my dinner…with a dash of petroleum..yum!
Here are some of the products I am currently considering as replacements…
Like that this is a “green” product!
These seem like a great option!
A little concerns about the lids still being plastic – but this is the best valus of the choices thus far…
For snack storage to take on the go…
If any of you have already taken this step or have some good glass products for food storage – please let me know! Thanks!

Pyrex anything has been our help. The only draw back is schools don’t like you to send glass containers with kids in their lunch boxes, but I do anyway. Oh and if it helps, the microwave isn’t too healthy either.

Thanks for the feedback! I have some Pyrex pieces that I use for baking and they are great!
