Easy (and Inexpensive) Fall Porch Idea

September 30, 2016 by val Leave a Comment

I love the way this fall porch set-up turned out.  And the best part… It’s easy and was under $20 to put together by using a lot of what I already had on hand.

Here’s how I did it:

East and Inexpensive Fall Porch Idea

My summer flowers were starting to get to the end of their rope so I was able to find discounted mums at Lowes for a steal of  50 cents per one quart mum.  I planted about 4 in each large planter and 1 in each of the smaller planters (which I already had on hand)   although you could improvise and use buckets – or the Dollar Tree will also have fall planters usually in stock.  The small hay bale was about $5 at Lowes.  (Hint:  Use it for covering up new grass seed the following spring so the money you spend on it actually goes to good use.  This at least works for us at least as over the winter our dog bathroom trips to the yard kill off a large spot of grass and we end up patching it up each spring.)

The pumpkins on the sticks were also from the Dollar Tree and the Beware of The Wicked Witch sign was in the Dollar Spot at Target (I don’t want to brag, but it was actually $3…)  The ghost in the hay bay was actually from a craft show and was something we had on hand… but I am sure you can find something similar at Dollar Tree or Target.

Now the amount of pumpkins may be more than some of you would prefer… It’s okay..no offense taken.

We tend to take a trip to a pumpkin patch or two each year… so we end up with several decorating pumpkins no matter what… you could scale the pumpkins back and I think this would still be a great, easy and inexpensive set-up… so go with what you got and make it your own.

The only thing I hate about all of this is that the Halloween Wreath was actually behind my screen door when I took the picture.  So it loses a little in this picture since it wasn’t showing.. most likely you already have a fall wreath, so use whatever you have on hand.

Okay, that’s it!  In total it cost me about $5 for the bale of hale $3 for the sign and $2 for the pumpkins and $5 for the mums… ( Your patience will be rewarded if you hit up Lowe’s at the right time in the season. )

Total Project Cost… $15

What are your favorite porch decorations for fall?  What other ideas would look good in this display?
