After 21 months of hoping and praying, I have finally taken the leap to being a stay at home mom (even if only part time). Those moms that have been STAHM for awhile or are full-time STAHM’s will most like laugh at some of my encounters, but for those of you thinking about making the leap, I hope a look into this mom’s transition will help to inspire you to do the same or perhaps scare you straight back to working full-time.
Today’s adventure:
Oil Change / Grocery Shopping
Before: Going at lunch time or on the weekend/evening when the hubs can take the little guy while I play the match game with my coupons and sale items.
Now: I joined the ranks of mothers throughout the last centruy who have dealt with the wrath of a toddler and his lack of being able to sit still content in a grocery store.
Today I did something that I said I would never do. I opened up a pack of granola bars, BEFORE getting to the checkout. To make it worse, the cashier made sure to note to me that she wanted me to be aware that one of the food products I was purchasing was opened – leading me to make my confession of giving one of the granola bars to my son.
Here is what I learned:
#1 – Park close to a cart rack (something I learned long ago) if possible, find one that has one of the “kid cars” on the cart.
#2 – Bring your own snacks (maybe something out from the normal)
#3 – Have a list ready and coupons grouped in order of the store layout (this is much easier to do after they go to bed, than while they are sitting in the cart screaming)
After taking a hiatus to produce the KidsGO Expo last month, I am happy to begin to get life back to normal (whatever that is)… Back to crock pot recipes and finding ways to help us all feel a little more control of our lives..at least the things that we can control…
ecently I received some fabulous items to review from Nike and Levi’s Kids brand.
I have to say that these items would definately hold up to crawling, climbing, rolling and scooting that my son can throw at it.
Little guy is all smiley – do you think its because he feels so awesome in his new Levi’s coat?
One suggestion to mom’s who are considering a jean coat would be to buy a size bigger than you think you will need – they will get more wear out of them and jean doesn’t really stretch – so once the jacket starts to get tight it is pretty hard to get on.
All of the item’s received are a really great quality and we will continue to test them out! I will keep you up to date and post more pics – gives me extra reason’s to brag about my little genius – lol!
It’s that time of year…even though the 35 degree weather we have been having here in Northeast Ohio doesn’t seem very “springy” Easter will be here soon enough and so will warmer weather.
I love Easter because it is a sign of new beginnings, it is a rebirth in both an earthly and spiritual sense.
I am a Christian and the Easter season is a reminder of the things that Our Savior Jesus Christ has done to give us all the chance for a rebirth from our sins.
This is probably the thing that I love most about spring. It is a re-birth of every aspect of our lives and a chance to look forward to all of the activities that we can now enjoy outside. Those first warm days are nature’s way of saying “Congrats! You survived another winter of ice and snow, cold feet and hands and bundling up to save money on the heating bill.
I love to open the windows and let the stale air out and the fresh air in. To hear the birds in the morning and to leave the screen door open at night to hear the crickets.
To everything there is a season and spring is a season of new birth and a fresh start.
One great thing to do this spring is to get out of the house and check out Hop with the kiddos or the hubby if he has been good 😉 This movie isn’t just for the little bunnies around your house both kids, teenagers and adults will find something to love about this very funny flick.
A little about Hop…
If you haven’t seen the trailer for Hop you can check it out here
Hop is direct by Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks) and produced by Illumination entertainment (Despicable Me). Russel Brand plays the voice of the teenage son of the Easter Bunny.who leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. Once there, he encounters Fred who shows mercy upon EB and let’s him live with him while EB finds his way around Hollywood. Meanwhile, the Easter Bunny’s second in command, an oversized chick named Carlos, seizes E.B.’s disappearance as an opportunity to plot a coup. In the end, Fred and E.B. are Easter’s only hope. Will E.B. come to the rescue…dun..dun..dun…you will just have to go and see to find out!
